Orangey and Shuggy...
These two hand knitted teddy bears were bought at a Christmas church jumble sale at St Aloysius in Oxford about forty years ago.
The stall holder told me that the lady who knitted them was in a wheel chair, and made them especially for the jumble sale.
I could not choose which one I wanted to get, and I wanted both! So my parents bought one (Shuggy - as a Christmas present) and I bought the other (Orangey - for straight away). However, the bags got mixed up and I got the wrong one (Shuggy) for straight away. This is quite important when you are only six!
Shuggy is named after his "fur" colour which looked like brown sugar! Orangey is named after the colour of his shirt!
At one point, Shuggy, the one with the red shirt, fell into the bath!! When he had fully dried out and recovered after his "swim", he smelled a bit funny - a bit like wet fresh maize. Fortunately, the smell has gone now.
Orangey has learnt from his brother's mistake and not been tempted to go swimming!
