Honey is actually a natural part of the bear diet. They don't just always eat plants; bears eat small animals such as squirrels, and fish and also berries.
Actually, while bears do eat honey, they are really after the bee larvae, because of their rich source of protein. The evidence for this is that when a bear damages an apiary (bee house) it always eats that part but does not always eat all of the honey.
