Bear Cookies

This is a yummy recipe for homemade teddy bear Cookies

Ingredients:

Ingredients for your delicious homemade cookies
(makes 18 cookies)

1 fresh egg
6 ounces of soft butter
8 ounces of sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla essence
26 ounces plain flour
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of salt
2 ounces of melted unsweetend cooking chocolate

Directions for your chocolate teddy bears recipe:

In a large mixing bowl, carefully mix the egg, sugar, vanilla and butter, until completely combined, with no unmixed ingredients sticking to the sides. Add the baking powder, salt and flour to the mixture and stir slowly, making an evenly mixed dough.

Split the dough into two, placing half into a medium sized bowl. Add the melted chocolate to this half, and stir thoroughly.

Each teddy bear cookie will have a body made from a 1-inch dough ball, 3/4-inch ball for the head, 4 1/2-inch balls for the arms and legs, and two smaller balls for the ears.
Place the teddy bear body onto an ungreased cookie tray, flattening slightly, shape the head, arms and legs as you like, and attach them to the body by overlapping the dough slightly. Do the same with the ears to the head.
You can have fun with different positions, and combinations of colours.
Add small balls for the eyes and mouth, and even buttons on the teddy bear's tummy!
A good tip is to use a fork to make the bear claw shapes on the paws.

Pre-heat your oven to 375°F (190°C)
(Tip - you can do this when you start mixing!)
Bake the cookies for 7 to 8 minutes, or until the cookies are set.
Leave the cookies to stand on the tray for 1 minute before transferring them to a cooling rack.
Eat when they are completely cool.
(But I'm sure no one will mind if you have a taste when they are still hot, but watch out you don't burn your tongue!)

Gingerbread Bear Cookies

This is one of the great teddy bear recipe ideas for homemade hungry bear Cookies that can be made as bear shaped cookies

Ingredients:

Ingredients for your mini cookies bear recipe
(makes about 3 dozen medium sized cookies)

3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
4 ounces sugar
4 ounces dark molasses
1/4 cup water
4 ounces shortening or butter
20 ounces plain flour

Directions for making your tasty gingerbread bear cookies that can be made as bear shaped cookies
First cream the sugar and shortening. Mix in the flour, water, salt, spices, baking soda and molasses.
Once mixed, cover and chill for about 2 to 3 hours.

Roll out your cookie dough onto a lightly floured cutting board, and use your teddy bear cookie cutters to cut out the bear shapes.
Place your cookies onto an ungreased cookie tray.

Pre-heat your oven to 375°F (190°C)
Tip - You can start the oven just as you start to roll out the cookie dough.
For cookies about 1/4 inch thick, bake for 10 to 12 minutes, for crispier 1/8 inch thick cookies, bake for 8 minutes.
Once cooked, transfer the cookies from the tray to a cooling rack, and leave to cool.
